LcOnline

The Buckeye Union High School District’s online school, BUHSD Institute of Online Learning (LcOnline) is housed out of the BUHSD Learning Center.  Students progress at their own pace using the academic platform, Edgenuity, which is a nationally recognized curriculum aligned to Arizona State Academic Standards.

Full-time online students are required to log a minimum of 25 hours per week (Sunday through Saturday).  Course Maps are one of the organizational tools that provide students guidance for pacing so that they complete courses by the end of the semester.    Highly qualified teachers present lessons through videos and incorporate various hands-on engaging activities, which students have access to, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Another important tool offered in most Edgenuity core classes is Guided Notes.  A quiz will be taken after each lesson, and a test finalizes the unit, with cumulative exams/final tests rounding out the assessments.  District highly qualified teachers monitor and support students’ progress and are available to help students when needed.  The only times that full-time online students are required to physically come to the BUHSD Learning Center is for end of course Final Cumulative Exams/Tests and state mandated testing.  A Family Portal is also available for parent(s)/guardian(s) to monitor student progress in courses, grades, and attendance.

Students attending LcOnline full-time will be allowed to participate in extra circular activities at one of the three district comprehensive high schools. Students choosing LcOnline will be eligible to participate at the last school the student attended before registering with LcOnline. Students attending LcOnline full-time who meet graduation requirements will have the opportunity to walk in the graduation ceremony at the last school they attended prior to registering with LcOnline and will receive a Buckeye Union High School District diploma

Registration for LcOnline can be accomplished at the BUHSD Learning Center.  For new enrollees (students who were not enrolled in LcOnline at the end of the 21-22 school year), the district registration process is followed.  The deadline to transfer from one of the comprehensive campuses to LcOnline is the Friday preceeding fall beak or spring break (whichever is applicable) unless an extenuating circumstance is approved.  Transfers from LcOnline to a comprehensive campus can only take place between semesters unless an extenuating circumstance exists that necessitates the transfer.
